Day 6 - Lockerbie to Ambleside

We could see from the profile that there were a couple of steep hill treats to look forward to later in the day.
The first 35 miles breezed by and with the clear(ish) sky and rolling hills around us, it was lovely morning for cycling.
In our usual fashion a big bowl of cereal and a full breakfast kept the legs moving.
Before we knew it we were back in England!
Dalston provided us with some entertainment!
A few big hills later the road was blocked by a flock of sheep!
A lovely route around Ullswater.
Glenridding was our late afternoon tea stop where we met up with Eva and Terry for tea and cake!
Then the time had come to tackle the climb of the day up to the Kirkstone Pass Inn
That was hard, but what goes up must go down and 'the struggle' was out route down. The braking fingers got a good work out!
And I broke my top speed to just over 40mph. I won't be doing that again in a hurry though, it was a little scary!!
A glorious evening and a trip to a scrummy Thai restaurant in Ambleside awaited us.
We pray for more good weather tomorrow!
